A&D’s oscillometric technology was first introduced in theirUA-500 Seriesfor consumer use in 1984.
Our Japanese patent (JPH0628637B2) filed in1984describes a digital sphygmomanometer using oscillometric principles. Redefining blood pressure measurement using using a pressure sensor, RC oscillating circuit, and digital data processing to determine blood pressure.
Why It Matters
This patent helped transition blood pressure monitoring from manual, clinic-only procedures toautomated, home-based solutions, making it easier for patients to manage hypertension independently.
