In 1984, A&D Medical made a significant advancement in blood pressure monitoring by developing and patenting the oscillometric method for digital blood pressure monitors.

This innovation laid the foundation for all of the automatic monitors used today. All electronic blood pressure monitors utilise A&D oscillometric technology.

Our Japanese patent (JPH0628637B2) filed in 1984 describes a digital sphygmomanometer using oscillometric principles. Redefining blood pressure measurement using using a pressure sensor, RC oscillating circuit, and digital data processing to determine blood pressure.
